Derek raced successfully in several classes and organizations until the mid-2000's before retiring his racing gear. This was done so that he could better focus on helping others in achieving their racing goals. Using his "lifetime" membership with WERA, Derek has been known to come out of "retirement." From time to time, he's been seen testing product, coaching a new racer, or just playing around in an endurance race. #274forlife
Derek and Lori raced for many years before hanging up their helmets. They have also worked the crash truck, flagged turns, worked registration, and even scored races by hand (back before transponders!) When you talk about what you are experiencing on track…they've been there, done that, got the broken bones, scars, and 20+ years of GNF t-shirts to prove it!
